Russian President Vladimir Putin announces a "military operation" in Ukraine's Donbas region

He urges Ukrainian soldiers in eastern Ukraine to lay down weapons and return to their homes

Putin warns that Moscow's response will be "instant" if anyone tries to take on Russia

Ukraine's foreign minister accuses Russia of starting a full-scale war, and urges the UN "to do everything possible" to stop it

BBC Kyiv correspondent James Waterhouse says a Ukrainian government official has given an indication of the breadth of the Russian military action so far.

The official says there have been cruise missile strikes launched this morning on Kyiv, as well as troop movements in Odessa to the south of the country.

Troops have also been crossing the border in Kharkiv, about 25 miles from the Russian border, the official says.

Early signs according to witnesses and government officials are that this is something quite large-scale, Waterhouse says.

There are also multiple reports from local media citing Ukraine's Interior Ministry which says some of the missile strikes have attacked Ukraine's military missile command centres and military headquarters in Kyiv.

Russia's defence ministry has denied attacking Ukrainian cities - saying it is targeting military infrastructure, air defence and air forces with "high-precision weapons".

Why would we help the japs defeat China? China didn’t start WW2, and they didn’t blow the hell out of us in a sneak attack. WTF are you getting at?

I was being facetious, but still, would Imperial Japan be more of a threat to the US than the CCP is now?

It would depend upon how successful they were in taking over all of Asia and the Pacific. For 2 years that little country kicked our asses. Were it not for Ultra decodes we woulda lost Midway. We were lucky the aircraft carriers weren’t at Pearl Harbor. Stuff like that.

Two Ospreys swooped in and evacuated US embassy staff to Poland.

Interesting question - would we mount an escape / rescue operation for Zelenskyy? There's been lots of talk of the Russki's engaging in decapitation operations.

Hunter said on video to the hooker he was with that his laptop was stolen by Russian gangsters he was partying with. He mentioned he expected to be blackmailed because of the freaky stuff that was on it. So there’s that. Between that an Epstein style operations we can reasonably assume Biden(or whoever his handlers are) is owned.

I don’t think we will get nuked. We would get an EMP strike, China wants the US for farming so they don’t want it unlivable.

From your map, so far they have not hit Lviv where our embassey people went after leaving Kyiv. Heard some reports saying that Putin has been moody, and changed. Did you see that picture of him meeting with his top committeee, all of whom voted for what he proposed. He was sitting 30 feet away from them. Afraid? Popular protests in Moscow and St. Petersburg against war. Putin’s vietnam? Wonder how afraid he is of assassination? Also how likely that might be?

Assassination is highly likely. Putin is 69, his time is running out. He wants to be counted alongside Peter and Catherine and ivan as one of the great rulers of the Rus

I too would like more information about allendale’s opinion. I have made similar comments, probably now in the 300s. My son is retiring from Special Forces, so I will want his thoughts when I can talk with him.

That hypothetical situation doesn’t play out. A war in Siberia? With Japan on the sidelines ready to attack both? And keeping control of that territory later would have been very expensive

Lvov — eventually, I’d think.

30 feet distance — covid protection, if he were to catch it now it would cause problems. He was equally distanced from Macron during the recent meet, and not because he was afraid of Macron physically assaulting him. Assassination talks — complete nonsense, for many obvious reasons.

***By the time December 7, 1941 rolled around, we woulda had battle hardened lines in the Urals or even deeper. And the rest of Europe likely wouldn’t be under NAZI subjugation. So yeah, a war in Siberia.

With Japan on the sidelines ready to attack both?
***Japan didn’t fare so well against battle hardened Americans.

And keeping control of that territory later would have been very expensive
***We’d annex it. And all those illegal colonizers? Go ahead and set up shop in Siberia, the new Great Western Expansion and Manifest Destiny.

On Lvov:

Some Russian sources report that the Russian army is beginning to deploy on the demarcation line previously agreed with Biden.-—this line is West of Kiev but does not include Lvov.

Given the pattern of evacuation it is highly probable that Putin promised — at least a couple of weeks ago — not to touch Lvov.

Maybe the Poles will take it.

I don’t see us sending in our own fixed wings or choppers to extract him at this stage. It’s quite possible we have ways to see he escapes. Whether he does so remains to be seen. He has stated he plans to stay put.

Update: Just checked and flight radar showing two Ukrainian AN-26s and two AN-32s have entered Polish airspace and are now southwest of Warsaw. American Blackhawk near where they crossed the border.

I wonder who is on board? Surely it’s not just Sean Penn.

That’s double fake news. The Russkies were tossed out of Kiev airport and are nowhere near western Ukraine.

Furthermore, Poland will not take Lviv from Ukraine. It is Lviv now, hasn’t been Lwow for 70 years

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was asked to evacuate Kyiv at the behest of the U.S. government but turned down the offer.

Zelenskyy said in response: “The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride,”
