No one wants to say it but the only thing that might deter Putin and Xi is an actual military red line. That could have been in Western Ukraine if the world had reacted more quickly, rather than Biden immediately evacuating.
The danger of a wider war is that we retreat from conflicts and display weakness until we finally have to stand and fight.
Biden is tailor made for our enemies because he thinks “of course” we can’t fight Russia and China, so he’ll keep doing the “logical” thing and letting them seize territory.
But they won’t limit themselves to the countries where our treaty obligations are unclear, because we are the ultimate target.

His mistake (or that of his Neocon handlers) was to urge Ukraine to join NATO, and to tell Putin that he had no say in who joins NATO.
The Neocons taunted Russia, provoked Russia, and drew lines in the sand.
