Some retired general on FNC today said we should give A-10s to Ukraine and some retired US pilots would volunteer to fly them. Maybe that’s what the Russians were referring to.

The article is about Russian military policy, and the Russian Minister of Defense is the authoritative source when it comes to official Russian military policy. The policy is whatever he says it is.

Sorry, I should have said mercenaries in my original post not ‘non combatants’ which implies civilians. Anyhow mercenaries get smoked by the U.S. No Geneva convention protection

Well I don’t have first hand knowledge of that Syrian example if that’s what you mean. apparently if wounded or sick, mercenaries are covered by article 47
