None of the mercenaries the West is sending to Ukraine to fight for the nationalist regime will enjoy the right of combatants under international humanitarian law, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"I wish to make an official statement that none of the mercenaries the West is sending to Ukraine to fight for the nationalist regime in Kiev can be considered as combatants in accordance with international humanitarian law or enjoy the status of prisoners of war," Konashenkov stressed.
He stated that all acts of sabotage by mercenaries in Ukraine were being carried out with the use of weapons provided by the West. Konashenkov said that foreign mercenaries were attacking Russian military and supply convoys and the aircraft providing support.

“Pop a Nuke” Corn Pop,
It’s what ya want.
I feel the same way about Islamic terrorist here.
So anything said by the Russian Defense Minister is real, but
anything said from within the Ukraine isn’t?
Isn’t the Russian leadership a fine source of propaganda also?
They just shut down all media that isn’t run by the state.
Does that bode well for openness and varied opinions absent
propaganda?
Just asking for a friend...
i don’t think they’re worried about it...
“weapons provided by the West”
As in the 200 Stinger missiles keeping the Russian Air Force at bay.
The Russians have essentially announced that all foreign volunteers (mercenaries) captured will be summarily executed. That’s pretty customary going back to before the Garden of Eden.
Good.
The Reddit larpers racing over there are amusing, this might shooketh them some.
DITTO!
You know it’s not going well when the Putin lackeys are screeching about “propaganda”.
None of the mercenaries the West is sending to Ukraine to fight for the nationalist regime will enjoy the right of combatants under international humanitarian law, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said......
Sounds like what the CSA proclaimed for white officers leading “negro” troops.
Hey, if you want to believe that Foreign mercenaries in Ukraine will have POW status, go right ahead.
The Russian way is to put POW’s in mass graves, so it’s not clear this is much of a policy change:

No POW’s - no surrenders. You gotta wonder if Russian draftees have the stomach for the increased casualties. The last time they got riled up, the Tsar abdicated, and his family was butchered to the last child. Maybe Putin’s Praetorian Guard is loyal enough to risk their lives for him. But maybe not.
Look at all thise tough beta males protesting instesad of fighting.
GO RUSSIA 🇷🇺 GO!!
I think it’s a tradition. Imitating a real soldier while being a combatant for the opposite side is a trip to your last cigarette. I’m sure it’s been this way forever in war. Mercs’ Gonna merc and die if they’re caught. It’s why they get the big bucks. Roland the headless Thompson gunner.
Yeah, it’s probably in the west
I believe that there is a very strong anti-Globaist slant to
some of their beliefs. I can understand that.
In my mind, it doesn’t justify just anything that can take
place. Some things are international crimes, whether it
parallels our world view or not.
Two wrongs don’t make a right.
I’m trying not to be too abrasive to the Putin backers,
although at the end of the day > IMO < his acts have
been illegal and terribly misguided.
We have major beefs with Mexico. Should we send our troops
south of the border, encircle Mexico’s major cities, strafe
them with missiles and take them by force?
Should we take Mexico City and Execute the nations’s
leadership?
I think most of us can understand why not to. They don’t
understand why not to, when it comes to the Ukraine.
Look, if Mexico was about to put nukes on it’s soil near
our border, it would be different. They aren’t, and I don’t
think they intend to. Neither does the Ukraine.
If the Ukraine were about to do that, I think most people
would see a valid go/no go scenario favoring Russia at
that point. I wouldn’t blame Russia under that circumstance.
Thank you for your note. I appreciated it.
Not to worry, John Brown enjoyed the right of combatants under international humanitarian law.
Do you think that they should not be given POW status, and
treated in accordance with international treatments afforded
to combatants?
Should they be open to abuse and any torture Russia wants to
inflict on them? What if Russia wanted to cut off the legs
and arms of all those men?
Does that seem legit to you?
This is a threat. Whether these men are afforded coverage
by the Geneva Convention or not, Russia should not have a
free pass for inhumane treatment.
This is propaganda.
