“Sorry, I should have said mercenaries in my original post not ‘non combatants’ which implies civilians. Anyhow mercenaries get smoked by the U.S. No Geneva convention protection”

Ther Russians and Syrians came across the agreed to deconfliction line and was looking to wipeout an isolated HQ unit. The Russians denied they were there, twice.

They were sacrificed for the good of Putin. Putin likes to sacrifice pawns.

Some of it may have been footage from the 2014 fiasco.

I can’t verify what is and what isn’t. Something is taking
place these days. There are attacks. What was supposed to
take a few days has now take, close to a week and a half.

I get your point.

No one is on his soil. He’s threatened? He’s cornered?

Wow.

If he evaluates it is necessary?

Guy, seriously?

(The Butchery had) Nothing to do with Marxism.

Sorry, that's not remotely believable.

Dynastic changes tended to coincide with wholesale butchery.

And the Marxists increased and perfected it, growing it steadily every year of their reign.

Only when economics forced 'em to tone it down, did it drop off.

Everybody knows the Best and Biggest Butchery on the planet was done by Marxists/Communists, and they started with Nick.

Since you're so absolutely sure that Putin doesn't think he or Russia is threatened, feel free to poke him real good.

Ya might even consider some fake attacks to show the world he's all bluff.

Go to Ukraine, wear civilian clothing, toss a couple of Molotovs at a Russian tank, just miss by a little, I double dare ya!

I’m always scouring foreign news sources among independent. Yesterday when everyone was reporting the nuclear plant was on fire, it was a Russian news source that first reported the fire was in the outside perimeter at a training area.

After reading that, I did a duck duck go search and was able to confirm it on other sources. But not the US media for a long time.

They have propaganda for sure. Everyone is throwing it out there like crazy. Finding the truth is an anomaly.

In a way the person is right.

Oh it wasn’t Marxists marching in and killing 20 or 50
million, but they did kill their fair share through
violent acts.

It was the implementation of Marxist Economic Policy that
caused famines, short food staples, and starvation.

In the Ukraine it was the potato crops that failed. 20
million dead!

In China it was another famine but I don’t know what main
staples were destroyed. 50 million dead.

In each instance the central committees issued policies
that cost tens of millions of lives. It’s like Biden
cancelling the pipeline and then refusing to issue new
oil drilling permits. That has down side ramifications.

The cost of fuels is going sky high. It’s going to harm
anything that has to be shipped. We’ll be paying double
for the shipping cost components of all prices.

Fuel costs on farms will go sky high. Fertilizer will be in
short supply, or so expensive that farmers won’t be able to
afford it. Crop yields will plummet. We’re in danger of
seeing a hungry middle class here.

In Venezuela, they killed their cash crop, oil. They
were either the wealthiest nation or close to the
wealthiest nation in Central/South America at one point.
Then Hugo Chavez came to power. In time the currency was
destroyed. Banks went under. People had a hard time
getting food to eat. Of course our media didn’t touch on
that too much.

Nah, Marxists never hurt anyone. /s They hurt everyone.

Every aspect of life is micro-managed by the central
committee. Who marries who. Who gets what job. How
many children can you have. What standard of living are
you entitled to. What your food ration is. Where your
kids go to school. What type of work are they allowed
to pursue. Are you attending the party meetings. Are
you a good citizen? Should you be reeducated?

There’s so much that goes unsaid.

Okay, let’s have it your way. If it’s not propaganda, what does that
tell you about the man?

As for me going and doing the things you said, that is supposed
to warrant him using nukes. Once again the logic trail stops
at the sanity of using nukes in those situations.

So the guy is either putting out propaganda, or a certifiable
maniac.

HollyB, it seems to me Russia would have a front row seat at
the event, so it would have the accurate story before others.

At the same time, U. S. Media can’t simply buy off on the
reports from Russia concerning military action they were
involved in.

In WWII the Germans treated foreign mercenaries of the allies as POWs. Examples are members of the French Foreign Legion, foreign volunteers in French service (including Spaniards, Portuguese and Latin Americans), Nepalese Gurkhas in British service, etc.

This is a long standing custom in European warfare as for a very long time it was normal to enlist any volunteer that presented himself to the recruiters, regardless of origin. The armies of Frederick the Great were full of foreigners, including Italians, Slavs and Turks. The French armies of the 18th century and the Napoleonic era had numerous designated foreign regiments, including Irish, Scots, Poles, Hungarians, various Germans, etc. ad infinitum. The traditional laws of war applied to them too.

When you turn on a radio or TV channel and hear endless ads calling on people to get COVID vaccines, do you think those are really public service ads aimed at promoting public health?

They’re not. Those ads are nothing more than a way to have a fascist government subsidize its media/propaganda partners without making it obvious through a direct appropriation.

Well this is not WW2 or the 18th century.
And even in WW2 I am sure Stalin shot any foreign mercenaries that were unlucky enough to be caught fighting against Russia in Russia.

The targeted mistreatment of captured mercenaries, or foreign volunteers, is actually quite new. The modern case probably began during the Spanish civil war, which made a lot of savagery acceptable, and the murder of POWs was routine on both sides. Both sides had foreign volunteers. The Republican “International Brigades” prisoners taken by the Nationalists were especially badly treated, most being shot outright.

Look, if you think that is a grand conspiracy, have at it.

The government wants everyone to be controlled and get the
vaccine. It’s going to put adds anywhere it can.

Would you expect it to pass up NBC or any of the other news
outlets?

I get your point, and I don’t think it’s totally off the wall,
but this is not the government keeping NBC on the air. Yes
it is funding it to a certain extent.

Back in 1976, American mercenaries were shot in Angola after a quick “trial”.
Being a mercenary is not a good idea in today’s world.
Putin will take great pleasure in having these people shot. With support from the Russian people.

The customs of European warfare go back a very long way. They are the basis of the later Hague and Geneva conventions. These protect mercenaries and foreign volunteers just as much as they do any national combatant.

That declaration by Russia is contrary to both international treaty and the customs of war. A country is free to violate such customs and treaties of course, as inter arma enim silent lēgēs, but it is not normal, civilized behavior, and should the worm turn, this sort of thing causes not just reputational damage but it constitutes a war crime.

The Angolan government was barbaric and should not be a model for national behavior. What other barbarisms would you like to copy from such people?

It was the implementation of Marxist Economic Policy that caused famines, short food staples, and starvation.

And it was the Reduction of Marxist Economic Policy in both the Soviet Union and Communist China/SE Asia, that reduced the killing and death until if faded from public interest.

In short it was economics, like I said.

Russia continued to improve, and China figured out how to use Communism as people control instead of economics control as Marx originally designed it, gleefully installing a Mafia Capitalist system that will work, if managed properly.

In any case, Marxists/Communists are the best killers on the planet, bar none.

Aristocrats and Monarchs are pikers in comparison.
