Army Col (Ret) MacGregor: U.S. Should "Stop Shipping Weapons And Stop Encouraging Ukrainians To Die In A Hopeless Endeavor"

TREY GOWDY: Why do you think Putin is doing this? What is his end game?

COL. DOUG MACGREGOR: Well, Vladimir Putin is carrying through on something that he has been warning us about at least for the last 15 years, which is he will not tolerate U.S. forces or missiles on his borders. Much as we would not tolerate Russian missiles or troops in Cuba.

And we ignored him and he finally acted. He was not going to allow Ukraine, under any circumstances, to join NATO.

Sending arms is a win-win for the USA.

The Ukrainians want to die for their country. America benefits from the diminution of Russian military capability.

MacGregor sees no problem in surrendering to tyranny. Thank God he was not around in 1776.

So do I. I don’t like the guy. He makes SOME valid points but what does he think the Ukes should do? His argument is basically the same as if when our forefathers were fighting the British we should have not angered the King so that people wouldn’t die. Screw that.

Retired Col. MacGregor is an idiot who predicted that Ukraine would fall in 2 days, and that NATO would collapse as a result. So much for his professional judgment, eh?

In case he forgets, Russia has shared a border with at least one NATO ally for the past 70 years, and the USSR shared a border with even more. Yet...no invasion then. And the argument about missiles is simply ridiculous given that missiles don't have to be fired from a neighboring country anyway to make it to Russia. Russia can have a ballistic missile sub right off our coast that would be closer to Washington D.C. than any Ukrainian-based missiles would be to Russia.

The guy just wants to reconstitute the Russian Empire/USSR for his own ego-driven reasons. All the crap about Russia truly feeling "threatened" is propaganda.

Sounds like military reality to me.

If it were the Super Bowl, I’d say

Russia 42 Ukraine 14

If you’re making Revolutionary War analogies, NATO and the US would be the French.

I’m sure there were French military leaders (perhaps veterans of the Seven Years War) who saw no value in sending French men to die for colonials in the New World, and I believe if such men did exist they had a valid point. They also might have said that simply sending the colonials some muskets and cannons (and maybe a vessel or two) would just draw the conflict out and get more people killed; another valid point if it were made.

What the hell are you blabbering about? Ukraine has nothing to do with American independence in the 18th century. You people are so easily manipulated by the media is scary.

Time will tell.

With corrupt, senile Joe Biden as acting Cdr in Chief, would he lead US troops to victory or would he lead them to slaughter?

Hunter’s up to his elbows in Ukrainian corruption, so I’d expect Joe to sell us out in another Afghanistan debacle.

I wouldn’t trust him to lead a kindergarten class to lunch.

Just you wait. Zelensky is a mystery man but he's clearly got more on the ball than uh, whatever one wants to call him. They're gonna goad us into doing a no-fly zone.

Ukraine is already a tar baby just waiting for someone to walk up and touch it.

The members of Congress need to go to the Ukraine and start fighting.

We can promise them an impressive funeral in DC after their caskets are returned!

“If it were the Super Bowl, I’d say

The mass media version is Ukraine 52 Russia 0

and a lot of Freepers are falling for it.

Had the Ukrainians got the fighter jets they were told, they were gonna get, this woil,d be a whole different war likely, but the nation that was gonna send them backed out. That convoy of Russian tanks and vehicles might not have made it through had the ukranians had jets to help stop it perhaps. But at any rate, the jets woil, dhave been a huge boon to them
