Energy prices drive up everything and Americans who are strapped for cash aren't going to be buying Teslas.

Add in the diesel charging stations that Tesla built I locations they were not allowed to connect to the grid.

It's not so much that.
It's that EVs accounted for just over 1% of car sales in the US in 2020.
Almost all cars/trucks are still using fossil fuels.
You can have super high gas prices like we have now. Great way to kill the economy.

Also, his Falcon 9 rockets, which has been launching weekly, use kerosene as a fuel, while the Starship, which will launch whenever the FAA, FCC and whatever other government agencies which choose to involve themselves are satisfied, uses liquid natural gas.
