Trust me, it is nothing compared to the rest of Europe. They are heading straight to 19th century.

Every year the UK media has a running body count of the number of pensioners who die of exposure because they can’t afford heating oil.

The charity is speaking out after it was revealed that 8,500 people died in England and Wales last winter due to cold homes. The figures are based on ONS figures released today which highlight that overall, there were 28,300 excess winter deaths, an increase of almost 20% on the previous winter. The warning comes as hundreds of organisations take part in Fuel Poverty Awareness Day
