Yes. I was there. Everything was rationed.
We were a household of ten, parents plus eight kids.
Everything was rationed...sugar, butter, shoes, coffee, etc.
My grandpa worked on the docks in Brooklyn, as a security guard, and we were able to get a lot of stuff that other folks did not.
But my parents generously shared with less fortunate neighbors.
