Ramzan Kadyrov, the strongman leader of Chechnya, said Monday that he was in Ukraine alongside Russian forces who are leading an offensive in the country.
Kadyrov...posted a video on Telegram of himself in military uniform studying plans around a table with soldiers in a room.
He said in a message that the video had been shot at Hostomel, an airfield near Kyiv....

Wow, stupid. Expect a hit team to take this big mouth out.
He is probably lying. It would have been very easy for him to record a video with some verifiable landmarks showing if he wanted to prove he is really there. Instead he posted a video of himself in a room.
Hopefully some sniper will find him.

What is sad is that the Chechens were Christian in the 12th century
Christianity was introduced from Georgia in the 10th century and became, briefly, the official religion, despite the fact that most of the people remained pagan. Georgian script was also adopted, though this has been mostly lost by now. Durdzuketia was destroyed by the Mongol invasions.
The conversion to Islam came as a focal point of resistance against the Russians in the 17th to 19th century
They were very milquetoast Muslims until very recently. The lowlanders in Dagestan were pious, but highlander Chechens didn’t care much before the First Chechen War.
They did radicalize during that war and during the Second Chechen War it was Putin, who chose to put the religious leader Akhmad Kadyrov in charge of Moscow’s loyalist forces.
He chose him because he figured a religious leader doesn’t have his own army and therefore is a safer choice than a warlord.
Turned out the worst of both worlds because now they are ultra-Islamic and his son Kadyrov still has a personal army loyal only to him.
