The Myth about NATO Expansion
Epoch Times ^ | 03/14/2022 | Michael Curtis

Perhaps the most notable achievement of the war criminal Vladimir Putin is his gift for disinformation and deception, the creation of an alternative reality. His shameful mastery is illustrated by his justification not simply of his aggression against the independent country of Ukraine, but of the brutal attack on the hospital and maternity ward in Mariupol by the allegation that neo-Nazis, with Nazi flag and photos of Hitler, were hiding in the medical facilities of the city which in fact had been without water, electricity, and heat for a week. Putin informs us that Russia is bringing justice by a variety of actions: by attacking the care home for disabled, near Kharkiv, and destroying a kindergarten in Dnipro in central Ukraine, destroying 48 schools, and apartment buildings. The gifted propagandist Yevgeny Prigozhinm , close to Putin, has released a film Blazing Sun which depicts Russian mercenaries entering Ukraine in order to prevent Ukrainian authorities for committing genocide against its own people.

Harry Potter lovers will be surprised they are unaware that U.S. government is training birds infected with or carrying bacteriological weapons to fly from Ukraine to Russia.

The world is still searching to explain the “root causes” of the unprovoked aggression by Putin against a neighboring country. His actions are reminiscent of the tragedy in 1932-33 when the mania of Joseph Stalin forced famine, the Holodomor, which caused the death of four million Ukrainians who were forced to eat grass, tree bark, flowers, rats, dogs, and even children.

Ostensibly, Putin claims his policy is to prevent expansion of NATO, which has been unjustly expanded, and the desire of Ukraine to be a member of NATO. The brutal attack ironically stems from the fact that Ukraine wanted protection from a Russian attack.

At the core of Putin’s galaxy of lies and misstatements is the allegation that the West tricked the former Soviet Union by breaking promises made at the time when the Soviet Union was ending, that NATO would not expand to the East. Though Putin has little real regard for international law, in his speech in 2007 to the Munich Security conference he accused the West of violating that law, breaking assurances, lying, and betraying Russia.

There was no intention of making Ukraine a part of NATO. Those exercises between NATO force with Ukraine in Ukraine had nothing to do with expanding NATO into Ukraine and only an insane paranoiac would have seen anything nefarious in all of that.

PS this is not Epoch Times but American Thinker which has shown itself to be a shill for neocons. Still it’s ok. We all agree that Putin is an insane madman. Oh, also Joe is delivering what we all voted for. He said so.

Russia is run by ex-USSR people (”ex-communist”). Spreading disinformation (telling a bunch of lies) has been their stock in trade since forever. China does the same thing, and so does the establishment in the USA. It’s said the first casualty of war is the truth, and this old world is sadly at perpetual war. Take everything you get from “established” sources with a grain of salt because they are all pushing an agenda, and that agenda is whatever is most beneficial to themselves.

Stalin had no reason to be suspicious of any possible threat to the Soviet Union from German incursions into Poland, Czechoslovakia and Ukraine. Only a true paranoid would have thought otherwise.

No sarcasm intended. I have seen what the international financial and political elite can do to cancel you. First they did it to Truckers in Canada. Now we have seen what the full force of cancelling a whole government of a large country looks like. Only a fool would oppose that. I am not a fool. Putin clearly is. They were never going to use these powers against Russia unless they didn't go along with what was being organized for them to make them part of the civilized global world.

Schizophrenic, delusional, psychotic, insane, murdering paranoiac. Putin, I mean.

so many in these forums keep spouting Putin’s disinformation on this topic

The FULL truth is that Putin never wanted rapprochement with the west on security terms. He wants Russia to remain an adversary of “the west”, on security matters, as an essential aspect of the ancient “Russian nationalism” view, held by the Czars, perpetuated by the Soviets, and as Putin believes must be continued. Russia as just another normal democracy in Europe, at peace with everyone and dominating no one was never in the cards under Putin.

exactly. and that civilized global world is what?

It is one world govt.

Note the universal response to the pandemic. Every nation got in line. One world govt is not coming, it is here.

Like it or not, Russia is one of the last stands against one world govt. Does it mean I support Putin? NO.

Putin is part of the checks and balances and because of that he has to go. There are wheels within wheels here.

It is not a simple position of pro and against.
