I’d be wary of claims published by the media. Hypersonic flight in the atmosphere is notoriously difficult due to heating friction. It requires both an extraordinary amount of energy to propel the missile and exotic alloys to prevent the vehicle from basically melting/disintigrating.
If Cobra64 is correct on the plywood part then our defensive weapon could be a Chain or Circular Saw...
I can see the halo indicating air friction and hear the gap between the flying missile and the sonic boom. It is not enough to precisely calculate the speed, but enough to say “significantly (like twice) faster than Mach 3”.
