When I was in public elementary school, we called our teachers Miss or Mrs., in fifth grade a Mr. was hired, and that was controversial.

In the 70s, my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Bennet, kissed a man on the mouth who visited her right in front of us. We all went ‘eeeewwwwwww’ because, #1, kissing was gross and #2, she had popped out frog eyes and we couldn’t believe anyone would kiss her.
I worked in a field rife with gay men who would openly talk about young men they had their eyes on and were counting down to their 18th birthday.

Share his love? My Lord. When I was in first grade, old Mrs. Kelly, our teacher truly loved us. She was tough as nails, but every day when we were dismissed for the day, she would either give a hug, a kiss on the forehead or say something positive. There was nothing sexual or unusual about that. I get the feeling that the kindergarten teacher in this article has different intentions.

I used to be very liberal in thought about gays; didn’t understand why it was such a big deal. (”Who are they harming?”) And then I worked in a field absolutely saturated with them and had to listen to their conversations about the 12-year-old pool boys they would seek out on their trips to Mexico or Thailand. Trust me, they were not counting down days until anyone’s legality. It was absolutely sickening. They were either into little boys or else cheap, disgusting public restroom hookups with random strange. And don’t get me started on what goes on in those gym saunas. You’ll never walk into one again. I began to realize that 95% of them were infantilized, disturbed individuals and the other 5% were just good at hiding it.
