Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said Tuesday in a CNN interview that if former President Donald Trump won the 2024 election, the NATO alliance would be significantly damaged. Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, said NATO members would wonder whether they could continue to count on the United States.
“If he were to come back as the U.S. president, I think it would represent a pretty dramatic departure for the world, and they would rethink whether they can count on the United States to lead NATO to lead other nations as they push back against China and against Russia,” Romney said

The stupidity of this is beyond comprehension - HELLOOOOOOOO Mitt! Did you ever hear of how the Afghanistan pull out went and how it blindsided NATO? How unimpressed they have been with both Harris and Biden's visits and have been trying to strike out on their own in the absence of US leadership? Wondering if they can count on the United States is what is happening NOW and what has been happening since not long after Biden took over. It was not happening under Trump. Many of the problems NATO is now facing were not happening under Trump and are the direct result of Biden's policies. And Trump coming back would cause them to doubt the United States?
This crazy talk.

The US leaving NATO would be a good thing.

Don’t get my hopes up Mitt. NATO is a waste of time and money and overall a pretty evil organization.

NATO should have been disbanded when the Warsaw Pact/USSR collapsed.

I wish.
Absent NATO, other EU countries could directly help Ukraine if they wanted. There is no need for NATO anymore.
To: DuncanWaring
The EU should have developed their own military alliance. The Americans should develop their own with the Canadians.

( Another bad day for Trump, he only got seven major things accomplished .)
To: Republican Wildcat
If I were the incoming President ,I’d advise these NATO Countries that they are on their own.
So they’d best start increasing their defence spending and not to expect the American People to bail their butts out of any military issues. Those days would be OVER.
