The whole plant was entombed in thousands of tons of concrete. There is no way you can make anything useful from that mess.

There is a good documentary about the cleanup. Now the new containment structure has a crane where they will dismantle the facility remotely. It is suppose to take 100 years or so.
What the Russians want with it? Who knows? Makes no sense.
