Trevor Noah riffs on inflation, COVID and the Oscars slap in Grammy opening

Trevor Noah kicked off the Grammy Awards with a series of rapid-fire references to inflation, the coronavirus pandemic, and Will Smith’s infamous Oscars slap in the first few moments of the annual music spectacle.

“The Daily Show” host launched the 64th annual awards show from Las Vegas on Sunday by introducing the group Silk Sonic.

“A dynamic duo who are single-handedly bringing back the 70’s — which might explain all the inflation,” Noah cracked.

My daughter is there on a girls trip right now. She was surprised when she heard the Grammies would be there, and also upset because it would be even more crowded. So far she’s seen Bryan Cranston in a club, but I told her what a rabid Trump hater he was so she steered clear of him. 🤣

I've visited South Africa several times in my life...both before and after Mandela. During my most recent visit (2018) I saw one or two pockets of substantial wealth...one of which was the suburb of Johannesburg where we stayed (there was a Rolls Royce dealership one tenth of a mile from our front door).But right next to that wealthy suburb (called Sandton) was a township called Alexandra. It features poverty and squalor every bit as shocking as anything I've seen in Nairobi or Dar Es Salaam.

IMO South Africa *desperately* needs Trevor Noah. Things certainly can't be any worse with him there than they are now. We,OTOH,don't need him...not even a little bit!
