Funny all the states with strict gun laws have the same problems no matter what. Does anyone know what happened. Was it a gang shooting. These guns that are usually used in these crimes are illegally owned. So let’s take legally owned guns away and make it impossible for people to legally buy them to protect themselves. Should be open carry in the USA. If criminals knew everyone was carrying they would be less likely to take a car or steal..
Note that these pushes for more "gun-control" always share three common traits:
First, timing. You always see them trotted-out after some highly publicized incident. You rarely see them at other times other than possibly election cycles when they're trying to rally their base. This is very intentional. The people advocating for these laws/regulations/policies know that with a rational consideration of their proposals the proposals would be rejected out of hand. That is why they wait until an incident occurs, and then they play upon emotion, not reason, to attempt to advance their agenda.
Second, extent. So-call "gun control" proposals are couched in terms of "this is it, this is what we need" but they never actually say this is all we need, this is "the" solution. Because the end goal of "gun control" advocates is complete civilian disarmament. Every "gun control" law on the books or proposed is mere incrementalism towards that goal. So they will never actually commit to how much, but as they say in "Fortunate Son" - the only answer is more more more.
Third, effectiveness. Every "gun control" law on the books or proposed are not only demonstrably ineffective (witness the latest incident) they are intentionally designed to be ineffective. Consider point #2 above - the intent is complete disarmament. They know they can't get there all at once. They need a series of small steps. None of these steps can actually make a difference. Why, if there actually was something done that was effective at significantly reducing violence, people wouldn't be very receptive to further infringements upon their rights. So the proposals have to chip away at rights, yet not actually accomplish anything so that ongoing violence may be used as justification for further infringements.

We are never told HOW new gun laws will save lives. The killer in Sacramento. Most likely a felon in possession. The gun recovered was stolen. So... What new law would have prevented this?
