Even great body armor at distance in a mobile home? Damn that’s gonna leave a mark. It’s about velocity, weight, and distance. 12 feet or so is basically what’s at the muzzle. A wrist rocket with a 50 cal lead ball at full draw at 12 feet is a bad idea. Getting shot or tased is a bad idea. I don’t care who you are.
IE…A Jacketed Hollow Point will not become a Full Metal Jacket once fired, nor the reversed.

Mythbusters tried to bust the myth that a laptop can stop a bullet. Final results were no and yes. Bullets went right through the body of the laptop. They ended up shooting at just the part of the laptop that contained the battery. The battery stopped a bullet.

Back in the day, late 70’s, LOL... I remember when a guy came out with a new vest and was demonstrating it, to who I don’t recall, but I think a big police organization? Anyhow, he asked one of them to stab him with a knife and he got stabbed and died.

If we had vest or armor when I was a kid I’m sure we would have done something that stupid, but then again, it’s pretty expensive.
I’m not even sure body armor without rifle plates would be able to stop a 50 cal, even if from a handgun.
Lot of the decom Police armor I’ve seen say even a 44 mag is iffy, without rifle plates.
And you can’t fix stupid.
