Keep the Lord’s Day in the Lord’s way.
A blessed Palm Sunday (Western)/Sunday of St. Mary of Egpyt (Othodox) to all.
We will all celebrate together in 2025.
Even though the calendars of Orthodoxy and the Western church are out of step by one week this year there is still a close connection between Palm Sunday and St. Mary the Egpytian.
“Life of St. Mary of Egypt” written by Sophronius, 7th century Patriarch of Jerusalem, gives a clue to the antiquity of that Feast: “[The monks] used to return to the monastery a week before the Resurrection of Christ, on Palm Sunday. Each one returned having his own conscience as the witness of his labour, and no one asked another how he had spent his time in the desert.”
Good morning, lightman, and a Blessed Palm Sunday / Sunday of St Mary of Egypt to you and yours.
Two weeks til Pascha...
