Sisolak raises $1.6 million in 2022 first quarter, has $10 million for re-election fight

Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak says he has raised $1.55 million in the first three months of the year and enters the thick of his re-election bid with $9.55 million cash on hand.

Sisolak’s campaign said the governor has already collected more than $10 million this cycle, which it called the most ever raised for a gubernatorial candidate in state history. His campaign announced the fundraising totals — which it said included more than 10,000 individual donors this cycle — in a press release ahead of the Friday deadline for state-level candidates to turn in campaign finance reports for the first quarter of 2022.

The governor’s race features a crowded field of 15 Republicans — headlined by Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo and former U.S. Sen. Dean Heller — but a sleepier Democratic primary, where Sisolak’s only competition is former Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins.

The total indicates the governor is roughly on pace with his fundraising from last year, when he brought in about $4.5 million and reported $8.28 million in cash on hand.

But he faces an uphill battle for a second term. A Suffolk University/Reno Gazette Journal poll released earlier this week showed Sisolak losing 37 percent to 39 percent in a hypothetical matchup against Lombardo, although that result is within the poll’s margin of error. The survey also showed Sisolak had a net unfavorable rating among respondents, with 42 percent saying they had a favorable view of him and 45 percent citing an unfavorable opinion.

While most other candidates on the Republican side have not filed campaign finance reports or announced their first-quarter totals yet, Lombardo — the fundraising frontrunner — ended last calendar year with $2.65 million cash on hand.

SMDH! Wonder if any of sissypants money is from "outside interests"? What a UPOS! But as long as he has Vegas and Reno............ Lombardo? Nope! Heller? Nope! Seems to me the candidate working the hardest all over the state is Joey Gilbert. Then there's the cat masto senate seat. Can she hold it? Hopefully not.

Sorry, don't see barely anything by Gilbert, very little by the others. Maybe a timing issue but on the surface it sadly looks like Sisolak has this one. And the others, no faith in Never Trumper and Jeb supporter Laxalt who still only has his family name to justify his election run. Agree with No! on Heller.

I know it is still early in the primary, but surprised that Gilbert, Brown, Lee, and others are not doing more to earn their place on the ballot.

I’m tentatively voting for Gilbert. Based on his ads, he’s the most conservative and most MAGA candidate. But NV has mail-in voting and the GOP better do everything they can to prevent a repeat of the fraud that took place in the last election.

Call me an optimist, but I’m not sure the Democrats can buy their way out of the Brandon disaster. If they’re smart, their money would be on another rigged election. That’s my concern.

Nevada doesn’t deserve a Rat for any public office.

The option to vote in person is available to anyone that wants to. Sissy’s admin made ballots available to everyone if they want them or not. We will do in person.

Ticks me off that governors like this idiot focus on reelection the moment they take office. How about doing the job they were elected to do? I know, crazy talk, thinking the elected would work for their constituents.
