A Russian warship that was damaged by an explosion on Wednesday has sunk, Russia's defence ministry has said.
Moskva, the flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet, was being towed to port when "stormy seas" caused it to sink, according to a ministry message.
The 510-crew vessel was a symbol of Russia's military power, and has led Russia's naval assault on Ukraine.
Kyiv claims it struck the warship with its missiles, but Moscow has made no mention of an attack.

sink Moscow
Cue the “sad trombone” sound.
According to the Daily Mail, when it sank, there were 15 colonels and 10 generals on board, along with Putin’s favorite chef and cancer doctor.
It was sunk by an elite platoon of Ukraine grandmothers, armed only with cheese-graters.
All hail Zelensky!
Oh, so the “operating under it’s own power” changed to “being towed” and now “sunk by stormy seas”.
Funny how the end result of the Russian narrative is exactly the same as the end result of the Ukrainian narrative from 24 hours ago, it just took them a bit of a roundabout way to get there.
Here is Tass’s report on the story. If you go to their website, you’ll see nothing about it, but if you did deeper you’ll find the story from Russia itself.

According to them she sank while being towed in heavy seas after “a fire broke out aboard her’.
"I wonder if Russia will join NATO for protection against Ukraine."
Re-classified as a submarine.
“sink Moscow”
They did!
Putin was ‘furious’ in a way ‘never seen before’
Good! #FPutin , have a stroke
The era of surface combatants and huge armored formations is over. They cannot survive in the modern technological firestorm. Yet many brave young men will die horrible deaths before today’s “battleship admirals” and their hidebound army counterparts come to this realization. The silicon chip has changed everything.
Well, to be fair, the Pentagon also announced that it was being towed toward port. Obviously the attempt failed.
No more Macho for Moskva
REEEEE! It’s not sunk! It’s just taking a rest! REEEEEEE!
I’ve seen the damage those graters can do-—the Muskva never had a chance. And with all those officers on board they must have lost a ton of silver table service.
But what I really want to know is if she was under tow, why didn’t the Ukes sink the tug? would have made a really nice artificial reef.
That’s funny right there!
