Pat Buchanan’s long time campaign manager was his sister, who was paid well. His campaign - which never got him the WH - seemed to be never ending, and between actual races paid his travelling expenses (always insuring he had a speech he was going to make somewhere during the trip). With no paid job - for years - and the fundraising never ending, and his sister on salary, I thought at times that Buchanan had a full time political enterprise going.

Bay Buchan was a math prodigy, was finance head for both Reagan’s primary runs and both Reagan’s general election wins, as well as serving as Treasury Secretary. She’s an eloquent voice for conservatism. Those are impressive credentials, and would have been much appreciated in plenty of other campaigns.
