Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) on Sunday said millions of vaccine doses will expire if Congress does not pass additional COVID-19 funding.
“We are going to lose millions of doses of vaccine that will expire,” Coons told moderator Margaret Brennan on CBS’s “Face the Nation” when asked if vaccines will go bad should Congress not approve more funds.

Everyone in the United States who wants one or more dose of the Covid vaccines has been able to get one, at no cost. The government, industry and most public and private institutions have exerted maximum pressure on the population to coerce the reluctant to take the jab. At this point, the number of unvaccinated people who will take the vaccine voluntarily is minuscule. Therefore, unless the government plans to physically force the vaccination of the unvaxxed there is no reason to do anything but allow the extra doses to expire and safely destroy them.
If Coons had any private sector experience he would understand the concept of “sunk cost”. It matters not how much the inventory cost to accumulate, when it stops moving, it is dead and of no value. One of the first lessons one learns in business is to cut and close on losses. Rotting cabbage at a grocery store doesn’t improve by keeping it in the refrigerator for additional weeks or months. It goes to the dumpster as soon as the rot is visible and it stop selling. Once the customer has voted “no” successful businesses find a way to quickly get rid of items in inventory no longer desired.
The people have voted and they aren’t going to consume the remaining vaccines. Destroy the inventory and move on. Spending billions to keep them around a few more months is only going to be more billions flushed down the toilet, no doubt with millions being siphoned off into the pockets of those in the inner circle. A cynic might ask Mr. Coons how much his campaign fund will benefit from this expenditure.
