Ukraine’s military successes against Russia have transformed calculations in Washington and other Western capitals, leading to a sharp increase in military help for Kyiv as a war that started with Western efforts at damage control has become one that offers a strategic opportunity to constrain Russia’s expansionist ambitions.
The U.S. and its allies are now shipping large volumes of heavy weaponry to Ukraine, including more advanced Western systems to supplement the light weapons and Soviet-era arms that were funneled into Ukraine since before the invasion started.
Those shipments are aimed at supporting Kyiv in the next decisive phase of the war in coming weeks—but also to arm the country in a conflict that could last for months or years.

RuZZia will leave this war with a weakened military and economy. RuZZia is a power in decline. The West needs to manage that decline.
If Russia controlled it’s own corruption, it wouldn’t be in decline.
And if it played nice with it’s neighbors it would have much better relations including trade relations with Europe.
Russia has shot itself in both feet and is aiming for it’s privates.
...Pat Buchanan has a rather sobering article on this whole mess today....worth reading, in my humble estimation...this whole Ukraine war appears to be something other than advertised....
The RATs are counting on this to save them in the mid-terms.
Russia will be targeting all bridges across the Dnieper River (which divides the country in half) and all rail lines, plus as many locomotives as it can for destruction, preventing heavy weapons from reaching the front.
Ah I see you two are believers in the mainstream media and Democratic party
China.
I support Ukraine but there are risks due to Putin.
Arming Ukraine should be fair game.
He had his chance to win this quickly. That failed and it’s on him.
But now he’s desperate to have a “win” for all his trouble.
Nothing is going to help them.
While they’re doing this, they’re also saying teachers own your kids, inflation and immigration is okay because there’s lots of job openings, the flood on the border starts the end of this month, Elon is exposing them on Twitter, the laptop is becoming more known, and Pelosi is out there saying the economy is bad because republicans—let alone the democrats have the House, the Senate AND the White House. DOA attempts to deflect look weaker and weaker.
No one will care—good or bad—about money and weapons pouring into Ukraine as long as it isn’t American soldiers, sadly.
Even a 2020 Election Fraud-level effort won’t save them.
And what are you a believer in? That is, besides Putin’s propagandists?
For $33B, we could have just bought the entire Russian Army.
There is no longer any way for heavy weapons to GET from poland or anywhere else in NATO land to the parts of Ukraine that Russia cares anything about.
The picture that the US MSM is peddling wrt this conflict is, of course, total garbage.
The thing that is really new and different about this operation is that, historically at least, nine ways out of ten when Christians have had to face off against barbarian hordes, the Christians have gotten wiped.
THIS TIME THE CHRISTIANS HAVE WON!!!!
In fact, not only won but won in spectacular fashion. Acting with no more than about 15% of its available forces, Russia has produced a candidate for greatest demonstration of maneuver warfare since Genghis Khan, and all of that with a force no larger than a third or so of the bandera-Nazi defenders while standard doctrine says they should need three times the size of the defending force...
The potential for conservatives who have taken the side of the deep state and the banderaNazis and pervoNazis in this business to end up looking and feeling stupid is vast and I don't think they're going to have to wait very long for that.
“If Russia controlled it’s own corruption, it wouldn’t be in decline.”
Same goes for us.
There are so many things wrong with your post. SMH.
“There is no longer any way for heavy weapons to GET from poland or anywhere else in NATO land to the parts of Ukraine that Russia cares anything about.”
Cargo flights into Ukraine have resumed and although there isn’t a declared ‘no fly zone’ if Russian fighters approach these cargo flights they’ll be killed and the kills will be attributed to Ukrainian ground fire. At least until such point as NATO no longer gives a damn about optics.
“The thing that is really new and different about this operation is that, historically at least, nine ways out of ten when Christians have had to face off against barbarian hordes”
Thank you for acknowledging the Soviet army as a barbarian horde that’s attacking Christians. Well said.
“Acting with no more than about 15% of its available forces, Russia”
No, it’s looking more like north of 80% of Russia’s active duty Army and Border Guard Service have been pulled into the war. Retired military and conscripts are also being thrown into the war backstopped by Chechen mercenaries and pathetic Wagner Group gangsters.
“the banderaNazis”
Comrade Chekist, no American gives a single rip about Stepan Bandera. He’s a boogeyman for Russians and Russians alone.
That’s my polite way of saying you smell like a Russian and so does anyone else who gets worked into a lather over a guy the KGB murdered 63 years ago.
Maybe this ‘Bandera’ hysteria plays well in Russia where you likely live but trust me when I say that no one in the USA cares. We wouldn’t even know this guy’s name were it not for you tools endlessly yammering on about him.
In closing, the more hysterical you get about ‘Mah Russia is WINNING!!’ the more you sound like Hitler in the bunker delusionally ordering non-existent armies to defend Berlin.
Winners don’t need to tell anyone when they’re winning because the facts speak for themselves.
In the case of the Soviets the facts ain’t saying anything good.
Putin has made a strategic mistake that will probably become proverbial.
Like was said about the US in Vietnam, Russia’s best move now would be to declare victory and leave. Unfortunately for Putin, such a move might be fatal.
