If they had anything, they would lead with that. They have nothing so they're trying to build up innuendo and intrigue hoping someone makes a mistake that they can exploit for political gain.
Actually they have something, lots of something. Lots of evidence and proof that there was nothing resembling anything that could rise to the level of "insurrection". They are carefully hiding, ignoring, and misrepresenting it.
If the Republicans had real leadership, they'd be ramping up the rhetoric about not just booting people like Schiff from committees (which should have been done years ago for his terrible behavior and leaks of classified information) but actually expelling members who deliberately used this investigation in an attempt to deny citizens their rights.
It probably won't succeed, but the Trump impeachments were never going to succeed either but the dems made a huge circus about that. An expulsion hearing would be thoroughly warranted, assuming the Republicans don't blow it and can retake the House in November.
