General Trevor Cadieu (Trevor John Cadieu), captured by Russian troops while trying to escape from the cellars of Azovstal, was the commander of the Canadian Ground Forces, APA reports citing Mailbd.
Seven months ago, he was appointed to the post of commander of the Canadian Army, but before the inauguration, he was involved in a sex scandal. In the harassment that occurred back in 1994, he was accused by a former colleague.

Your article says he retire April 5.
He must have arrived at Mariupol just before the Russians blockaded it.
Aways, always, always, my FRiend. Always.
M1 weighs 70 tons. Its hard to hide even from satellite recon. If there were any there everyone would know it.
There are tons of commentary videos doing what-ifs of fights between various tanks. A real video wouldnt have identifiable Abrams taking out T72’s as such fighting would be at long range, a kilometer or more. On the receiving end it would be difficult if not impossible to say what sort of tank did the shooting.
As long as they are all "private citizens" it isn't much of an escalation.
Could have been on enforced leave and the retirement paperwork came through months after he was relieved of duty. In the meantime he entered Ukrainian service (likely pre-war).
It has to be written in Russian for him to understand it.
Ah....Canadian...eh. CANADIANS ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY AND THEY STEAL OUR HEALTHCARE!
“Love these headlines. He isn’t the commander he retired.”
Nice try (by Canada).
A prior report of the capture of a NATO general proved false:
This fellow, a former 3-star Canadian general, retired while under investigation a month ago, and went off to Ukraine, to join in the defense of that country as an individual volunteer. The following story is dated April 21st:

By April 21st, Mariupol had already been surrounded, and the Azov battalion and other defenders reduced to a pocket. Even, by April 21st, the Russians announced that instead of attempting to storm the metal works at which the Azov was holding out, they would simply wait for the Azov to be starved out.
Mostly on the internet, by Russian sources.
“So the West is there. Last week I read where a “gulf war vet” who was 20 years old was captured.....A vet at 20?”
Yea, must have been one of them ‘child prodigies’ who finishes college before turning 18.
Anyway, their cover stories are cute, but as more are flushed out, things will just get more laughable.
“Your article says he retire April 5. He must have arrived at Mariupol just before the Russians blockaded it.”
Been blockaded longer, so he likely ‘retired’ while down there. I wonder if they held some type of a ceremony for him?
Or more probably Russian news stories badly translated into English.
So he retired after the siege of Mariupol began? How convenient.
“Proof please”
Not trying to jump into the Freerepublic front of the Ukraine War, just pointing out that the headlines don’t match the story.
That is likely partially true along with Ukrainian propaganda and American propaganda sources on the internet. All sides are lying. Who can forget classic hero tales like Snake Island and the Ghost of Kiev? I don’t believe much coming out of that corrupt s-hole Ukraine from any side.
I get that, but chronology is important; he retired in April and then left to fight in the Ukraine, getting captured after his retirement.
It’s standard Russian Putin troll posting yo exaggerate or worse.
Like their story about the sinking of the Moskva
