The only semi-reasonable reason to publish such a claim is if US intel had absolutely nothing to do with locating the generals (i.e., old-fashioned spies were ratting them out, or Ukrainians were intercepting radio communications directly). It would still be idiotic since the Russians can interpret this as the US being at war with Rusia, and we’re off to the races. Obviously, the Ukrainians are using the information to a great effect so I doubt that they are a source of the leaks. The Democrats are in charge of our government now so they can't help it but to rub the Russians' face in it when all they had to do was too STFU. We are at a risk of further escalation. This may be more like 1914 here if we are not careful.
