This story appeals to so much ignorance it is not funny.
- Russia invaded Ukraine February 24.
- Cadieu resigned April 5, five weeks after the invasion started.
- Other than the Azovstal Steel Plant, Mariupol was already occupied.
- At the time of Cadieu's resignation, Mariupol was at least 40 miles inside Russian held territory.
So just how did he get deep into Russian held territory, to manage a civilian bio-lab in the middle of a war, that was already under Russian control, without anyone noticing he was there until he was arrested while leaving?
The answer is, this is made up Russian disinformation and those spreading it don't care.

I take most of the news coming out of that region to be
highly suspect.
People from both sides really glom on quickly to reports
though, always claiming the other side doesn’t vet any of
them.
