You claim you would’ve been treated differently if you were a young athletic person

I definitely would have been treated differently. I wasn’t young and important so I wasn’t worth fixing.

I was a very active older person. I was mountain biking 20 to 30 miles on mountain trails, walking 3-5 miles when I wasn’t riding, and walking and running on 5k benefit runs. I wasn’t worth fixing though. I finally gave up on quack doctors and started seeing a PT on my own. At least he seems to care if I get better. Yes I’m bitter regarding doctors.

LOL, I do know that but think what you want.

One of my dogs knocked me down at the dog park and I landed on my foot and ankle. I couldn’t feel my ankle or foot for a few minutes, so I knew something happened that wasn’t normal.

Doctor #1 did x-rays and put me in a boot. He said “you tore all of your tendons”. I asked how long to wear it and he shrugged his shoulders. A month later I called and told him that it was still really swollen. He said all he could do was put steroid shots in it. Nope

Doctor #2 didn’t do anything, but he said he thought I had CRPS and told me to get a nerve conduction test since the foot was so cold. One of his nurses said “we all have foot pain when we get older”. Not like this you don’t you jerk.

My own doctor, that I do respect, asked “can you walk?” and I said a little. She said, “that’s good enough”. Well, no, is isn’t. I want my life back.

I started seeing a PT in Knoxville on my own. My granddaughter is a PTA and she recommended him because she said the first doctors weren’t even trying to help me. He examined it and started me on treatment. He told me to toss the boot. He said “whatever you do, don’t let a doctor put steroid shots in the tendons”. It improved but he said without a good diagnoses from a doctor that wasn’t a quack, (his words) he wanted me to get a third opinion so that he would know exactly what he was dealing with. He referred me to a specialist in Knoxville that he knew personally and trusted so that he could tailor a better treatment plan for me.

The specialist did more x-rays and two more MRI’s. She had a nerve conduction test done. She said that if the first two doctors had cared and done their jobs (her words), that I would have been started on PT around week two instead of being stuck in the boot until forever. The nerve conduction test on that leg showed a couple of barely functioning muscles from non-use but in time and with good PT, they would improve. That leg was about half the size of the strong leg at that time.

She said that the tendons had been torn but not ruptured and they had all healed too short. She said that in a “young person” they could do surgery and lengthen them but at my age they didn’t like to do surgery on the feet and ankles if it wasn’t an emergency. She said that with good PT, they would stretch on their own but it would take a lot of time and pain. She said the tendonitis was being caused by the tight tendons and the tight calf muscles that attach in that area. My sesamoid bones were all badly bone bruised and I have a form of arthritis in one bone on the peroneal side that is in the bone, not on the bone joint.

She said that the cold in the foot was happening because 1) the muscle wasn’t working and 2) the ankle was swelling inside and hindering blood flow. She gave me a brace for when I’m outside or when the arthritis is bad and came up with an exercise plan with my PT. She said that if the first doctor had started me on PT immediately that all of this would have been avoided. That one cared.

So, first two doctors weren’t interested. The specialist didn’t want to do surgery due to my age (65).

I asked the PT why so many doctors weren’t interested in helping older people. He said that where Physical Therapy is concerned, it takes longer to help older people but that doesn’t mean they can’t be helped. He said it’s easier when doctors are proactive. He didn’t say anything else about quack doctors.

My son-in-law recently did the same thing when he fell on ice. They put him in surgery and did surgery on his tendons. He is doing a lot better than I did at that time in the process. He’s in his 40’s.

Re: Covid. Any doctor that tells me I need that vax is a quack. My mom took her first one and had a small stroke. She recovered some from it and took her second shot. She had a worse stroke with that one and died. Yes, she was elderly but had never had a stroke and....

My 10-year-old vaxxed niece was just diagnosed with a very rare type of throat cancer. Was it from the vax? Who knows? We will never know I guess.

Why would I trust 98% of the doctors? Not happening. If a doctor isn’t recommended to me by another doctor I trust, forget it. I will never trust 98% of the doctors again.

The Declaration of Geneva bears only superficial resemblance to the oath of Hippocrates. which was sworn to the god Apollo.

Even the third doctor would not have done surgery. All she would have done is order PT.

Doctors make decisions usually from a minimalist view point. If they don’t have to cut they won’t

Even lengthening surgery is not one hundred percent effective. Many times it fails or doesn’t provide positive results

IF you can avoid surgery one should do so.
