Twitter had a zillion bot accounts. It very well may have been significantly more than 5%.

I called this right off the bat. I don’t think Elon ever planned to buy Twitter. All of his early tweets were completely negative about the company and he even called out all the fake box and accounts. Why would you pay top dollar for a company that’s built on a house of cards?
So how much of Twitter is actually a form of a ‘Ponzi Scheme’? Given the number of accounts that seem to be ‘less than real’, is there the grounds for a SEC lawsuit against the company for ‘willful failure’ to disclose these significant facts in a publicly traded company?
Musk certainly did get a bunch of useful admissions from various people after his takeover move.
Those 5% of users (bots) are probably making over 90% of the tweets.
Bannon’s been saying all along that Musk will either kill the deal outright or kill it and renegotiate for a lower price.
“””Musk offered to buy at $54.20 a share, and now share price is $36.42. Musk either walks (that will cost him $1 billion) or he buys at the new valuation.”””
Twitter’s share price closed at $45.08 on Thursday. Otherwise, I agree that the players are betting that Musk is going to walk away from the deal.
I wonder if his strategy was to make an offer, expose the fraud then walk away and etch Twitter then implode
Would the number of users be put out in Twitter’s 10-Ks or 10-Qs, anyone know?
Musk seems like the guy that likes tangible products not a company made out of hot air.
Exactly what makes “discovery” so important in lawsuits.
Given the dramatic decline of the stock market and the overstatement of Twitter accounts, it is only natural that he would renegotiate to get the price down.
Am I getting scammed?
Jon, the share price is now $45, where did you get the $36 number?
I agree that Musk will beat up the board {and lower his offer} over the number of fake accounts.
What of utmost importance to the Looney Left is to feel good about themselves. Doing tangible good usually takes work. To the Looney Left, it’s easiest to lie to make themselves feel good, so truth be damned.
If I was Elon, I’d be talking to those two high level execs they just fired.
Fake bot accounts is just part of the deal. There is also the massive inflation of followers for Leftist accounts like Barack Obama’s. Are all of those fake accounts allocated to people like Obama, or do they just inflate his numbers and undercount those of conservatives? Bots would account for inflating the Left, but the undercount on the Right is another matter. It’s all based on deceit, just a matter of how they are doing it. Musk obviously has reason to believe that the fake accounts are greater than 5%.
I had a feeling all along this was a ploy for Musk to destroy twitter by revealing the massive amount of fake accounts it has then backing out.
