GENEVA, May 17 (Reuters) - A senior World Health Organization official said on Tuesday that high levels of transmission of the coronavirus among unvaccinated people, such as in North Korea, creates a higher risk of new variants.
The isolated country, a WHO member, is grappling with its first acknowledged COVID-19 outbreak, fuelling concerns over a major crisis due to a lack of vaccines and medical infrastructure.

I just got over a variant... it was basically a flu, nothing more. I’ve had myriad flues in my lifetime, this covid variant was no worse. I even have several comorbidities, and was somewhat nervous about getting it, but alas, it was about on par with other flues I’ve had in the past, and was even not as bad as some of them were. For me anyways, your milage may vary.
Yes its more contagious, but certainly not more deadly. Covid 19 itself was what? 99.9% survivable itself? Omicron even more survivable. All this variant talk is over the top. How many people in nk are dying from it? How many healthy are dying fro. It? It’s time to move on and just live with the fsct that there is a virus that is possibly a bit more desdly,than regular flu, (though we will never know for sure because they fudged the numbers a lot), and just live with that fact.
Should be no threat to the rest of the world, seeing as though NK is the Hermit Kingdom with no one going in and no one going out. Well, there may be some cross-border visits with China, though those would be closely monitored by China.
