This reinforces my beliefs and contradicts the leftist narrative supported by FReeper CINOs.

So it’s gotta be Russian propaganda, right?

Russia's Capture Of Azovstal: Symbolic Success, 'Pyrrhic' Victory?

"In practical terms, the end of the siege at Azovstal does not alter the trajectory of the war very much," Robert Person, an associate professor of international relations at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, told RFE/RL.

"In controlling the rest of Mariupol, which Russia has done for several weeks now, the Kremlin already had its land bridge to Crimea. Azovstal doesn’t really tip the balance there," said Person, who does not speak for the U.S. Defense Department.

The fighters at Azovstal tied down thousands of Russian troops for weeks, giving Ukraine's military time to fight and repel Russian forces in other arenas of the war such as the areas around Kyiv, the capital, and Kharkiv, the eastern city that is the country's second-largest.

"Although [Russian President Vladimir] Putin will squeeze maximum domestic propaganda value out of capture of Mariupol, it is a Pyrrhic victory that comes at enormous cost. The protracted fight for the city has drained Russia's military of significant manpower, weapons, and equipment," Person said.

"Putin will be able to capitalize on this success until Russian forces face their next major setback, after which Azovstal will be a distant memory for most Russians," he said. "But for Ukrainians, the memory of the siege of Mariupol will serve as a rallying cry for generations to come."

FTA: “Russia could have flattened the city, turning it into a smoldering pile of rubble. They did not do that because they wanted to minimized civilian losses.”

I guess the author never looked at any of the scores of before-and-after photos that have been published. The city is pretty much “a smoldering pile of rubble,” and is for all intents and purposes uninhabitable, unless one considers a primitive and basic survival mode inhabitable. Dresden in March, 1945 was “inhabitable,” too, after a fashion.

first, what is a CINO? I do not listen to political radio, and do not have cable TV.

Second, the Ukraine, with all that uncalled for American tax money, and still, it seems, getting their country destroyed.

this whole thing has played out before, pre-soviet time.
it is, was, and will always be a boondoggle, and not worth American involvement, unless, the stories of joe biden, his son, and Americam military research mean something.

this whole thing is not worth my attention.

Interesting Duran video. NYT’s editorial staff is now suggesting that Biden and Zelensky give careful consideration to negotiating an agreement that cedes territory to Russia. It also states that the U.S. cannot continue to supply money and weapons.

I assume the very pronounced change of heart is likely based on concerns that the fact Ukraine is losing will make the mid-terms even harder for the Dems.

I don’t know how Biden and Zelensky will feel; but it appears the NYT is surrendering.
