How Putin managed to derussify East Ukraine in just 8 years (Reminder)
ThreadReader ^ | 16 March 2022 | Kamil Galeev

Posted on 05/30/2022 7:19:26 AM PDT by Chad C. Mulligan

Since he started consolidating his rule in 1999, Putin has been always manufacturing conflicts artificially. Chechnya, Georgia, Syria. Each time he claimed he needs to defend "security" of Russia, which was difficult to object to. Everyone agrees Russia has the right to be secure

The conflict in Ukraine is also artificial, manufactured. It started with the "little green men" taking over Crimea in 2014. It continued with FSB colonel crossing the border to launch the Russian insurgency. It continued with Russia funding and arming irredentists in Ukraine.

It culminated with Russia launching the war of conquest in 2022. It's delusionary to view Putin as a neutral side here. It's also delusionary to describe him as "a side of the conflict". He is not *a* side. He's *the* one who manufactured this conflict in the first place.

This conflict manufacturing strategy backfired on Putin. Russians are shocked by resistance they are now facing in the Russophone East Ukraine. Russians believed it would just switch to them immediately. After all, it voted for pro-Russian candidates on every election till 2014.

What happened? How Kharkiv which used to be culturally and politically pro-Russian so quickly turned super anti-Russian? It's a huge cultural change and a very recent one. And the answer would be: Putin's conflict manufacturing strategy killed pro-Russian sentiments in Ukraine.

Galeev is one of the best analysts I’ve seen on the nature of Russia.

Stopped reading right there. It all started with the US sponsored Euromaiden Coup.

That is why Ukraine had an artillery campaign against Donbas since 2014 - all the Russian Ukrainophiles there. Funny how hard it was to pacify Mariupol after they got the Azov gang out of their deep hidey hole. The starving disarmed shoeless ill equipped Russians will be begging for safe transport home.

It’s always cute to watch people inject morality into international relations.

His threads are the most annoyingly shallow shilling on Twitter right now, and that says a lot.

Deep state fake....Deep state fake.....Deep state fake

There is nothing he’s written that I find to be incorrect, and his views are often politically incorrect. He even bashes Navalny (rightly, in my opinion) as a fake, including Russian dissident newsies. In this he is in line with what I’ve seen written by Russian defectors or writers like J.R. Nyquist.

Almost as absurd an idea as the notion that there could be any Anglophones who might object to being ruled by the British Crown!

Laughable!

Funny how hard it was to pacify Mariupol

There isn't a Mariupol. 90% of more of its buildings have been rendered uninhabitable, with an estimated 30,000 dead civilians. Currently the Russians are filming literal hostage videos with Mariupolite survivors in rooms or up against walls declaring they have been "De-Nazified" after going through a De-Nazification course. Some of them have actual signs of being beaten or having their hair shaved.

As for "Ukrain artillery campaign." It has actually been proven that Russia was sending artillery trainees to the Donbass to fire on Ukrainian positions knowing that the Ukrainians were not allowed to fire back at these heavily artillery placements.

Go look at any city in the Donbass, prior to the invasion, compared to Ukraine: spotless, open air gulags, but no damage whatsoever. Meanwhile, Ukrainian villages and downs have been subject to random shelling for 8 years, with Russians shooting at Ukrainians, and all this documented by foreign observers for some 8 years.

Meanwhile, Russia for 8 years has been firing at OSCE surveillance drones and refusing to allow the OSCE to investigate cease fire violations.

Naturally, the side in the conflict that does not offer any transparency is the side that you believe uncritically, spreading BS as if it is fact on this forum. And then you even do it with rage and venom. There's nothing worse than an angry person who is dumb and ignorant.

Example? I think you've never heard of him before and have decided to become his enemy because of your Putinist agenda.

You touched a really sore nerve by posting this guy on this forum.

I didn't even post the thread, which again shows you are just spouting nonsense and don't know what you're talking about.

Stopping reading right there is normal for you, as you've been refuted so many times you probably "stop reading" as a matter of survival mechanism! Without it, your wicked little world falls to pieces.

Of, course, liberals are always guilty of what they’re projecting, so sure, Russia, Russia, Russia...

FACTS: Regarding Casus Belli, the final straw came on July 21, 2021, when President Zelensky signed the Law on “Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine.” It stipulates that only Ukrainians of Scandinavian origin, as well as Tatars and Karaites, have “the right to enjoy fully all human rights and fundamental freedoms”, thus depriving Ukrainians of Slavic origin (meaning 16 million ethnic Russian Ukrainians) of freedom to speak their own language, worship in Russian Orthodox churches, teach their children their history and live undisturbed by the state in their communities. Ukraine blew the one chance it had to build a great, inclusive nation but it chose greed and hate and Victoria Nuland, Antony Blinken and Raytheon was happy to oblige. So now, if you stand with Ukraine, you stand with ethnic cleansing. That’s what this war is about and the truth will come out in the end.

Ukraine’s Toxic History of Fascism and Ethnic Cleansing.

This is such extreme bullshit and stupidity I do not know where to start. This law you are talking about gives protections to minorities--it does not strip any rights away, and it couldn't, since Zelenskyy himself is a EASTERN Ukrainian of Jewish descent who spoke Russian as his first language.

Did Zelenskyy strip himself of his own human rights?

What is wrong with you people and this BS you spread on this website uncritically?

RE: Russophones who hate being ruled by Russia! Who’da thunk it?

It’s not entirely inconceivable.

It’s possible to love your Russian heritage, language and culture and yet dislike the government ruling Russia.

I’ve always advocated an internationally observed referendum in the Donbas region to gauge the real desire of the people.

Do they want to be part of Ukraine? Russia under Putin’s party? Or an independent country?

That is the most honorable way to end this conflict.

You’re forgetting that Zelenski is a powerless puppet. Do you ever see him on tv when he isn’t surrounded by Azov Nazi goons? The CIA, MI6 and Ihor Kolomoiski created him out of whole cloth through the “Servant of the People” franchise to leverage a nascent Ukraine ethnostate to a hostile western proxy to pit against Russia. That’s why it’s no contradiction to watch the spectacle of a Jewish “leader” presiding over a society deeply immersed in nazism. The Scandinavian Ukrainian is as big a pile of historical BS as the invention of the Aryan German, but it it served the same purpose: ethnic cleansing. And yes, that law was designed to make it so onerous for ethnic Russians living in Ukraine that they would live in total subjugation or leave. That would leave a racially pure Ukraine, just like Stepan Bandera dreamed of.
