“Why was this guy never reported by people who knew him? It’s one of the first signs.”
I realize that Uvalde is a ‘small town’. People doubtlessly knew there was something seriously wrong with him. But is there anyone ‘in authority’ that has the power to do anything about it? Committing someone to involuntary mental confinement is next to impossible.
Now if he’d done something really crazy, like walk between the velvet ropes in the Capitol on January 6, he’d still be locked up.
The danger with passing new red flag laws is that lots of democrats and libs will flat out lie about Trump supporters and conservatives they don’t like. “I saw them doing X or heard them saying Y.” Then the law will require you to hand over all guns until the “investigation” is complete. People on our side have got to really think these things through.
I’m pretty sure I would’ve told the high school where he was a student. Sometimes as citizens we are supposed to speak up. What’s weird is when we do, and we’re told to hush up, it’s none of our business. There’s a line there somewhere. I guess it’s a conscience thing.
