Most of the people there appeared to be Mexicans. The graduating class and the audience were enormous.
We stood and pledged allegiance to the US Flag. We stood and sang the National Anthem. All graduates who will be serving on active duty in the US military were asked to stand; the audience applauded.
I was gratified.
I was told that some graduates protested, and at least one wrapped himself in the flag of Mexico to accept his diploma. I saw no protest in the audience.
Someone said, of the Mexicans: "They are glad to be here!"
If they want to be Americans and raise their (citizen) kids that way, welcome them. But Mexico should be made to take in trade an equal number of our own homegrown hoodrats, methheads and babymamas.
