This is starting to sink in at their Politburo - they knew it academically, and war was going to be how they solved it (they may still be trying to) but it’s not going to be enough - and it’s starting to show. What point family loyalty and hard work to benefit the family if you can never have a family of your own because there literally are not enough women?
As for the women, they’ve got their own problems. Because of the huge numbers disparity, younger women will forever be pursued and propositioned, among other things. They fear they will be made to become broodmares to address the population imbalance.
Mention here ‘left over women’ - women over 30 who are not married. No male will accept them because the male’s family will not.
Now that situation that would have worked in long ago times (war) is no longer a possible outlet for too many people. Now families depend on the financial support of the males, absent that and the family becomes homeless, destitute.
After the trials of repeated pointless lockdowns country wide, the people are not going to tolerate losing their male children to a pointless war.
Those same women become very undesirable when they reach a certain age (35?); that is when they become “leftover women”.
