I think that you are forgetting that it is Russia that is the aggressor and who is attempting to change the map, not Ukraine. Even your latest map shows that eastern and southern Ukraine, while Russia speaking, are ethnically Ukrainian. It is Russia that needs to stop trying to change the boundary between Russia and Ukraine, go home and recognize the border that they have recognized for the past 100 years.

Lenin did not "give" the pink territory to Ukraine 1922. It had a Ukrainian population and was a part of the independent Ukrainian state in 1917 and was recognized as such by Russia in 1918. Nor did it retain a retain a Russian ethnicity. While much, not all, of it is Russian speaking, it is a majority Ukrainian ethnic population. Even Travis McGee's map in post #58 shows that. Nor was there any attempt at ethnic cleansing. This is pure Russian propaganda to justify their land-grab.

Until Feb these areas could have remained “ Ukrainian” but with autonomy and security protection, in a Minsk-type format, But not now, after what the UKR has put them through. They are never going back.
The only question is whether they remain independent Republics, or join with Russia, Along with other areas such as Kherson and maybe even Odessa.
