Ruble is at 59.

Russia needs to do something - the ruble is getting too "stronk".

Economics 101: The Russians have oil, gas, coal and grain. The world needs and wants those products especially when they are sold heavily discounted. The value of the ruble reflects that inherent wealth.

Because Biden has propped up Russia’s oil profits, with his asinine policies.

I knew it was going to be at least at lower 60s when Putin announced the ruble for the gas scheme.

The Ruble has been around for 500 years. Found that interesting.

ummm because the Ruble reflects the value of Russia’s economic activity. They don’t simply print them to buy votes.

The Ruble has been around for 500 years.

The dollar - er, I mean: Taler - has been around longer still!

Since the sanctions on Russia were put in place, the value of the Ruble has been pegged to a commodity that has been used since time immemorial — GOLD.

The US dollar used to be that way as well until President Nixon took it away.

The “Soros Globo Homo” EU is pumping hundreds of millions of euros per day into the Russian economy. Russia would collapse without the EU’s support for Putin.

Yes, "Thaler" is the older spelling!

And I was only joking!

It was weak to begin with, so that “helps”.

But it’s value was oil and gas, remains oil and gas, and oil has gone up and gas has dramatically improved.

And then, it’s compared to the dollar, which has been completely devalued by USA leaders who are idiots who are either complete economic idiots or are actively seeking to destroy the USA.

The Ruble should be really, really strong.

“Russia would collapse without the EU’s support for Putin.”

I’ve said this before. Dependence on unfriendly or unreliable countries is a bad thing. Independence is the recipe for prosperity and stability but it is now thought of as selfishness and not supporting “one world”.

For a Russian citizen , what does the value of a Ruble matter if there is little to buy?

Putin can fund his war, maybe, while Mother Russia suffers.

There on the horizon........... tons of unemployed alcoholic Russian men.

Pegged in what way? Gold is down substantially since the invasion yet the ruble is way up.

Do you know that of 2.3 million bpd of oil Russia is selling to the EU, 1.25 already coming to India and China on top of their regular Russian imports.
Now, if you in Europe, look at the price of gas at pum and imagine what is going to happen when another million bpds goes to China.
