Under communism your kids aren’t yours, they belong to the state. Family is a veneer. Its a structure that is being gotten rid of.

And that is why the state should keep their hands mostly off in this area.
Have kids with who you wish (providing they are of age and agreeable) and how many but you do have to support them (something that we have totally failed at).
You can not abuse the kids and they should come out of your care as at least more or less functional adults.
If those conditions are not met then the state may step in but only after the state can show it put a great deal of care and thought into the matter.
Abuse can cover a great deal of ground. Sometimes the whiny butt child and the judge agree that the parent not providing a cell phone and allowing child to text who ever they want is abuse. And there are others who think that if you deliberately beat one child to death you should still have custody of your other children as soon as you get out of jail because, after all, you did not kill them and a blood connection is the only thing that matters.
It just isn't a place where the state can or should meddle lightly or even at all most of the time.
