To be fair, a good portion of those guys are *off-duty* cops, and the OT pay is usually charged to the venue/client requesting them. Some are actually off-duty, and paid directly as security, not as city cops, but the department allows them to wear their uniform. Not that many are actual on-duty, taxpayer-funded.
