Cat is moving their front office of about 300 people to Texas. In the grand scheme of things the Chicago area can absorb the loss much better than the Peoria area when CAT moved their FO to the Chicago burbs. What does Illinois lose by this move? They loose 5% income tax from higher compensated individuals and some prestige. My guess is they moved out of the Chicago area because it is no longer safe for family members and clients to go downtown.
