Their report notes that the Russian occupiers have made limited progress only on the outskirts of Severodonetsk and in the Metiolkino area.

On other axes, the Russian army has suffered heavy losses in both men and material, which makes further advances on other critical fronts impossible for the moment.

The ISW noted that the invaders will be able to completely capture Severodonetsk only if they concentrate most of their forces there, meaning they would need to draw back their units to other areas of the country.

The Russian military is also trying to push back the Ukrainian Armed Forces north of Kharkiv and in southern Ukraine, but to no avail.

Earlier, the Luhansk regional governor Serhiy Hayday said that fierce fighting in Severodonetsk continues. The Russian invaders are pulling in all their reserves in an attempt to finally capture the city....

From what I’m reading, it was a bad day for the command structure down there in Ukraine. When the front-line troops call back for orders, it sounds like there won’t be anyone to pick up the phone.

An interesting citation and reference from a seemingly "non-partisan" source. Excepting that the source is essentially something quite other than it seems.

The report comes from the Institute for Study of War, 1400 16th Street NW, Suite 515 Washington, DC 20036.

The article URL is: https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-june-18

The site was registered in 2006, long before this latest "study." In fact the site name was registered in December 2006, while the "Who We Are" page tells us in was founded in May 2007. The Institute for the Study of War is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Kimberly Kagan, Her brother, Frederick, is husband to Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland, whose name figures prominently in the Maidan "color revolution" and years leading up to the Ukraine/Russia war.

One can read a Left-leaning publication's take -- "Who is Victoria Nuland? A really bad idea as a key player in Biden's foreign policy team," Salon 19 January 2021.

Here's a puff piece from Politico from years ago: https://www.brookings.edu/opinions/the-politico-50-robert-kagan-and-victoria-nuland/

A conservative take on the current Biden administration's "family" of war advisors in and near though officially outside of government is all DC, and all about power brokering and war lobbying. Tens and tens of billions of debt-sponsored dollars supposedly going to support Ukraine with the full support of Biden, Schumer, Pelosi and McConnell suggest that -- as was the case with the princeling sons of Biden, Pelosi, Kerry and Romney, there is a lot of grift to be had. And the Department of Defense chief, ex-General Raytheon agrees. It's all about $ and $$ and $$$.

A look to the ISW page is instructive, as they advise that you can donate with cash or credit, through legacy giving and even the giving of stocks and bonds -- to the lobbyists. $ and $$ and $$$.

https://www.understandingwar.org/planned-giving

Give until it hurts. Generals Keane and Petraeus and the Kagans likely including Victoria Nuland Kagan thank you.

You too could get a "commemorative ISW Legacy Society crystal paperweight."

I actually fear that Brandon might set up another crisis in Kaliningrad to distract from this trainwreck, this time with the US troops involved. They’d absolutely suffer heavy casualties and he could start a nuclear war to save himself an embarrassment in midterms. Someone should explain to him that midterms aren’t going to mean much.

“Their report notes that the Russian occupiers have made limited progress only on the outskirts of Severodonetsk and in the Metiolkino area.”

At this stage, how could someone write that? Severodonetsk is taken, and Lysychansk is currently the focus. So, I suppose the sentence is true if you view Lysychansk as “the outskirts” of Severodonetsk, but, of course, the sentence is actually a deceit meant to mask the fact that the tragically exploited soldiers of the UFA are being killed and wounded in huge numbers and being pushed back. After Lysychansk, which will be surrounded or surrendered, it’s a matter of finishing with Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. The Russians are clearly operating according to their plan. The Biden administration and its enablers are criminal at every level,

Russians attack and then cross into Severodonetsk. They are massacred by artillery from the high ground in Lynsk. The process has been repeated over and over and over.

The generals have their orders but lack the military capability for success. They watch the death and annilation
