Memo to Republicans: It’s time to dump The Donald and run with The Ronald
New York Post ^ | June 20, 2022 | Piers Morgan

President Donald Trump recently issued his fourth official statement about me since our controversial interview two months ago. At the risk of further incurring his wrath, if anyone is drawing flies right now, it’s Donald Trump. If you were scripting a perfect Republican presidential candidate, the list of preferred requirements would read something like DeSantis’s resume.

I have heard arguments in the past about Trump having done the best he could have under the circumstances. There is a ton of truth there!

But I don’t think that argument holds water when it comes to Trump’s appointments. The Senate traditionally gives a President (even one they don’t like) wide leeway when it comes to appointments.. Trump easily could have done better, but he didn’t. That puzzles and concerns me.

And here’s another thing. Trump has a bit too much Patton in him. In general, that’s a good thing. But not when you’re trying to lead a large and fractional organization like the US government. There was a reason Ike was picked as Supreme Allied Commander, and not Patton.

Don’t get me wrong. Trump has a lot going for him. In particular, he really understands the threat from China. And he really understands the threat from the decay of US industry.

But he’s not perfect. He needs to clean up his act a little. Hopefully, he will.

I’m as conservative as they come and can honestly say that Trump has passed his sell-by date. It is time to move on with another conservative who can get things done without the baggage. Half of this country would automatically say Trump is wrong if he claimed the sky is blue. In this time of discontent with Biden and progressives, now is the time to show that solid conservative values need not be divisive.

It doesn't matter what you want. If the entire voting system isn't overhauled, whoever is the GOP candidate besides Trump will get screwed out of the election again. Well, by that same logic, it doesn't matter who you want either.

Thomas Paine never met a Democrat. I wonder what the English-born American would say if he were alive today.

Without Trump there would be no DeSantis, his time will come but in 2024 it’s Trump or nothing.

I’d like to see the pool of applicants Trump had to pick from. I’ll bet there were plenty of folks Trump wanted to see in key positions that simply told him ‘No, thanks.” Especially folks that still wanted to work in DC afterwards.

Add to that the fact that all of his nominees had to get through McConnell and his merry band of RINOs in the Senate to get approved.

This was the most serious problem and conveniently left out of the analysis's provided by those complaining about Trump's picks for cabinet positions like Leaning Right.

President Trump learned the hard way just how criminally corrupt DC really is. He was snookered at every turn and is still being set up by same DC criminal class. Now he is keenly aware of who the top criminals are and will clean them out if he gets an opportunity to do so. If any other Republican is put in the WH in 2025, the snookering process by the DC criminal class will just happen all over again and this country will be the worse off for it. It’s Donald Trump or bust!!

“his appointments were mostly disastrous.”

I agree when it comes to SCOTUS appointments. I believe that the traitorous Turtle told him ahead of time the names of those who could, and could not, be confirmed by Senate.

As for other appointments, there were some terrible ones. I’m not sure if he’s learned his lesson and maybe time will tell. He picked a few lulus for mid-term, e.g., Oz, Ortagus, etc.

He can hold his own on kitchen table issues and fighting against the Left's narrative. But DeSantis would be no match for the Deep State and Globalists.

Those are the ones who would eat him alive, not the usual Dem activist groups and liberal PACs.
