Here's the question : Why is that problem suddenly surfacing now? Are they telling us that there were enough trained pilots before 2022 and then these trained pilots suddenly retired?

Pilots in their 20s? I too would feel a bit safer with a pilot a bit older, with more life experience etc.

Does anyone have an estimate of how many pilots were fired because they refused the jab?

Was that a significant contributor to the pilot shortage?

5 years? What about the Horizon Air ground service agent with no piloting experience stealing a Horizon Air Turbo Prop, 75 passenger aircraft. This guy took off and was doing barrel rolls and insane maneuvers and also showed he could handle the aircraft in flight. Edge of the seat stuff.

Yet it takes 5 years and 100K for training? lol..

SeekAndFind just posted an article about Southwest pilots that said SWA is 2,200 short even after hiring on 5,000 last year. That should give you some indication. I’m not sure if that number is all pilots or pilots + inflight.

Ithaca is beautifully nestled on the shores of Cayuga lake and there are numerous fine wineries and orchards all around....

best times as a child was driving up to Cayuga lake, setting up our picnic tables, then all going up into the hills to pick the best cherries, we kids eating as much as we picked...

there are lots worse places, much worse.....
