Russia may “win” in Ukraine but it has already suffered a catostophic strategic defeat that it cannot reverse. This war has demonstrated to the world that Russia’s conventional military is not the fierce juggernaut that was once so feared. NATO now realizes that Russia could never sustain successful offensive operations against it. The geopolitical ramifications are immense.

I found Putin’s instructions to Shoigu interesting. Yes, he indicated that the troops responsible for liberating the Donbass should rest and restore combat readiness (likely including setting up the battlefield.) But, he also specifically said the “East” and “West” groups should do the tasks that were planned.

Can’t find anything yet that explains who those groups are or what they have done or are going to do in the plan. I keep trying to look at where troops are moving to see if that sheds any light on it. They mentioned one more small settlement that they had taken...
