If Japan was still a semi-feudal Shogun-style country I would worry.


The amazing thing is that Japan transformed itself from a semi-feudal Shogun-style country, to one that (quite mistakenly) thought it could take on the U.S. in one rather long lifetime. There were old people in Japan who celebrated Pearl Harbor and the fall of Singapore who remember samurais walking the streets of their childhoods.

It amazes me how Japan went from being completely crushed as a nation in WWII to a leading world economy in less than a generation.
