I think there is going to be a wave of stop-losses among service enlistments. This Pentagon has made so many bad personnel decisions regarding COVID, and LGBTQ that enlistments are way, way down and there are thousands of unvaccinated National Guardsmen who are in limbo — unable to drill and looking at separation.

Stop Loss is a desperate measure with real repercussions.
While they can hold a relatively small number of critical staff, they quickly run into an issue where others don't cross-train into the Stop-Lossed field. Also, many of those who were Stop-Lossed separate en masse once the restriction is lifted.
I witnessed Stop Loss on certain aircraft maintenance and medical specialty codes. It covered their staffing in the short term but damned the fields in the mid to long term. The re-enlistment bonuses jumped way up for years afterward.
