That's exactly what the war against DDT was about. Rachel Carlson was a eugenicist. She pushed fake "science" to stop DDT from saving people of certain types she wanted less of in our global gene pool.

They used to fog for skeeters with DDT. We would ride our bikes through the poisonous plumes. There haven’t been any side effects so far.

I lived in Sierra Leone for three years and pretty much every single week inveighed against her with whoever would listen. The embassy people ignored me but the SL government agreed but claimed that the USA kept them from actually creating or importing DDT. They could only use it to infuse wood, building materials or mosquito nets.

The truth is that as soon as "they" discovered that DDT was saving 1 Million lives per year, in the third world, the eugenicists determined they couldn't tolerate that level of population growth in the third world.

The concern was that they would thrive and progress, and soon demand control of their own natural resources. Meaning the West could no longer exploit their natural wealth.

There is a 1974 document briefing President Ford of this "problem" and he soon signed off on the "solution".

So many people have suffered and died needlessly by banning a safe and effective product.

Despite almost all of what Rachel Carson wrote being debunked soon after “Silent Spring” was published, she gained huge fame from the book and lived comfortably in her nice suburban home in wealthy Montgomery County MD, while millions suffered and died in the third world from malaria.

Like a bunch of you guys, I would run down the street chasing after “the bug man” along with most of the other kids on my street. But that isn’t the most important bit. The most important bit is that that stuff settled everywhere. Everybody in my town lived in that stuff all summer long. And if there were any adverse effects from it, we never got wind of it.

Now mosquito-borne diseases are the single leading cause of premature death on the planet.
