If they sprayed police officers with pepper spray or something, they deserve to be punished.
But remember, the woman in Portland who threw a Molotov Cocktail into a police car with 5 officers inside was sentenced to only 33 HOURS of COMMUNITY SERVICE.
Agreed. There were some idiots there, and some of them were violent despite the claims of some here. They should be held accountable. My problem is with the justice system is:
- Those who are being prosecuted for non-violent protests. For parading, trespassing, interfering with congress. These people are simply being persecuted for their political beliefs.
- Those on the left who commit violent felonies in the name of protest, and are either not prosecuted at all, or receive extremely lenient sentences.
- The participation of the DOJ in allowing or encouraging chaos through embedded agents, provocateurs and/or inaction.
It depends.
If they were pepper praying the goons who were clubbing Rosanne Boyland to death - trying to stop her beating - I could see it. That may not be the case for this one, but I would not make a blanket statement that they deserve punishment (at least not 3 years in prison) without knowing the context.
There were a lot of police, agent provocateurs, and others acting badly that day. I would not give a free pass to the 'law enforcement' officers who were clubbing defenseless people, and launching flash grenades at them.
