Few in Berlin are buying that. Even fewer believe Russia can be trusted to deliver what Germany needs for the coming winter.

Its the same sort fantastical thinking that gave Germany "Energiewende," that also makes them believe they can send German tanks and artillery to Ukraine to kill Russian soldiers, without it having any effect on Russian willingness to supply gas!

Eurolemmings, forward!

Right on target, you just can’t fight Russia on one hand and then expect them to be generous and supply you with what you need. I have a hunch that sooner or later Russia will persevere anyway in spite of the west trying to prolong the conflict for as long as possible, primarily encouraged by a war mongering bunch of idiots in the US administration who realize that the next elections may not be in their favor and what better way than to get involved in a war. Aside all that in my humble opinion, which doesn’t mean much to begin with, I feel in case of the Ukraine conflict that Russia is more right than wrong.
